Adverb and its Types
Adverb?
Prepared by: Sir Javaid
Asslam o Alikum!
Today our lecture is all bout adverb!
It's a very beautiful concept to learn!
Let’s start by thinking about sentences. Imagine you say, “Talha runs.” Now, this sentence is correct, but it doesn’t tell us how Talha is running. Is he running quickly, slowly, or happily? These words that describe how he runs are called adverbs.
Definition of an Adverb:
An adverb is a word that describes or gives more information about a verb (an action), an adjective (a describing word), or another adverb. It usually tells us how, when, where, or to what extent something happens.
Adverb ek aisa lafz hota hai jo kisi kaam (verb) ke baare mein humein zyada tafseel se batata hai. Jaise agar tum kehte ho "Talha bhagta hai," toh humein bas yeh pata chal raha hai ke woh bhag raha hai. Lekin agar hum kehte hain, "Talha tez bhagta hai," toh yeh adverb ‘tez’ humein yeh bata raha hai ke woh kaise bhagta hai.
Ab, yeh samajhna zaroori hai ke adverb verb ko zyada detail mein samjhata hai. Iska matlab yeh hai ke jab bhi aap kisi kaam ke bare mein zyada maloomat dena chaho, toh aap adverb ka istamaal karte ho.
Ab ham kuch verb k bare mai baat kerte hain!
Verb wo lafz hota hai jo kaam batata hai, jaise ‘bhagna,’ ‘likhna,’ ya ‘bolna.’ Lekin adverb wo lafz hota hai jo yeh batata hai ke woh kaam kaise, kab, kahan, ya kitni dafa ho raha hai. Apko samajh rahe ho na, Beta?
Now there is a question!
Why Do We Use Adverbs?
We use adverbs to give more meaning to sentences. They help to explain how something happens, when it happens, where it happens, or to what extent something happens. Without adverbs, sentences can feel incomplete or less descriptive.
Agar ap kehte ho "Main kaam karta hoon," toh humain yeh maloom hota hai ke ap kaam karte ho. Lekin agar ap yeh kehte ho "Main achay tareeqay se kaam karta hoon," toh ab humein yeh bhi pata chal gaya ke ap kaam kaise karte ho. Dekha, adverb ne jumlay ko kitna mazid detail aur wazeh bana diya?
"Kya sentence mein adverb zaroori hai?
” Nahi , zaroori nahi hota ke har sentence mein adverb ho. Lekin jab humein kisi kaam ke baare mein zyada maloomat deni ho, tab adverb ka istamaal karte hain. Jaise agar main kehta hoon "Us ne likha," toh yeh ek sahi jumla hai. Lekin agar main kehta hon "Us ne jaldi likha," toh ab jumla zyada clear aur complete ho gaya hai.
Importance of Adverbs in English Grammar:
Adverbs are very important in English grammar because they help make sentences more interesting, clear, and detailed. They add more meaning to verbs, adjectives, and even other adverbs.
Agar hum adverbs ka istamaal na karein, toh jumlay thore adhooray lagte hain. Jaise agar main kehta hoon "Main so raha hoon," toh yeh theek hai. Lekin agar main kehta hoon "Main aaraam se so raha hoon," toh ab yeh maloom ho gaya ke main kis tareeqa se so raha hoon. Jumla zyada complete aur wazeh ho gaya hai.
"Kya hum adverbs ko har jagah use kar sakte hain?” Jee bilkul!
Adverbs ko hum verbs, adjectives, aur doosray adverbs ke saath bhi use karte hain. Har jagah adverb ka use ho sakta hai, jab bhi aap kisi kaam ko aur zyada samjhana chaho.
