Articles are small words used with nouns. They help us understand if we're talking about something general or specific. In English, there are two types of articles: indefinite articles (A and An) and the definite article (The). Let's learn about them one by one.
Articles chhoty chhoty words hain jo nouns ke sath istemal hoti hain. Yeh humein yeh samajhne mein madad deti hain ke hum kisi aam cheez ka zikar kar rahe hain ya kisi khaas cheez ka. English mein articles do qism ke hote hain: indefinite articles (A aur An) aur definite article (The). Ab hum in ko aik aik karke seekhte hain.
Indefinite Articles: "A" and "An"
We use A and An when we talk about something for the first time. These articles tell us that the noun is not specific. The choice between A and An depends on the sound that comes at the beginning of the next word.
If the noun begins with a consonant sound, we use A. Consonants are letters like B, C, D, F, G, and so on.
If the noun starts with a vowel sound, we use An. Vowels are A, E, I, O, U. Sometimes, we look at the sound, not just the letter.
Hum A aur An ka istemal tab karte hain jab hum kisi cheez ka pehli dafa zikar karte hain. Yeh articles yeh batate hain ke noun specific nahi hai. A aur An ka farq us sound per hota hai jo agle word ke shuru mein hoti hai.
Agar noun consonant sound se shuru hota hai, to hum A lagate hain. Consonants aise letters hote hain jaise B, C, D, F, G, waghera.
Agar noun vowel sound se shuru hota hai, to hum An lagate hain. Vowels hoti hain A, E, I, O, U. Kabhi kabhi hum letter nahi, balkay sound dekhte hain.
Ab and Vowels aur Consonants ka farq dekhty hain:
Vowels and Consonants
There are five vowels in the English language: A, E, I, O, U. These letters make open and clear sounds, like in the words apple, elephant, or umbrella.
Consonants are all the other letters, like B, C, D, F, G, and so on. These sounds are made by stopping the airflow with our tongue, lips, or teeth. For example, dog, book, or car.
English mein paanch vowels hoty hain: A, E, I, O, U. Yeh letters clear aur khuli awazain banati hain, jaise apple, elephant, ya umbrella mein.
Consonants baaqi sab letters hote hain, jaise B, C, D, F, G, waghera. In letters ka sound humein zuban, hont, ya daanton se rok kar banate hain, jaise dog, book, ya car.
Examples of "A" and "An"
Here are some examples:
1. I saw a dog in the garden.
2. She wants an apple from the kitchen.
3. He is reading a book.
4. They found an umbrella in the park.
5. We met a doctor yesterday.
6. She gave me an orange.
7. I need a pen to write.
8. He has an idea for the project.
9. There is a cat under the table.
10. He ate an egg for breakfast.
In all these examples, notice how we use A before nouns that start with consonant sounds and An before nouns that start with vowel sounds.
Definite Article: "The"
Now let’s talk about The, the definite article. We use The when we are talking about something specific or something that everyone knows about. It shows that the noun is already known to the listener.
When we say The, we pronounce it differently depending on the sound that comes after it. If the word begins with a consonant sound, we say "Tha," like in The dog. If the word begins with a vowel sound, we say "Thee," like in The elephant.
Ab hum baat karte hain The, jo ke definite article hai. Hum The ka istemal tab karte hain jab hum kisi khaas cheez ka zikar kar rahe hote hain ya jab sun-ne wala us cheez ko pehle se jaanta hai.
Jab hum The bolte hain, to is ka talafuz agle word ke sound par depend karta hai. Agar agla word consonant sound se shuru hota hai to hum "Tha" bolte hain, jaise The dog. Agar agla word vowel sound se shuru hota hai to hum "Thee" bolte hain, jaise The elephant.
Uses of "The"
We use The in many situations:
First, we use it when we talk about something specific that we have already mentioned. For example, "I saw a dog. The dog was barking."
Second, we use The for unique things like The sun or The moon because there is only one sun and one moon.
Third, we use The with superlatives like The best, The tallest, or The fastest. These words show that something is the highest or most in its group.
Fourth, The is used before rivers, oceans, and mountains, like The Nile or The Himalayas.
Lastly, we use The when talking about specific places or groups, like The library or The police.
Hum The ko bohot se halaat mein istemal karte hain:
Pehla, jab hum kisi khaas cheez ka zikar karte hain jo pehle se mention ki gayi ho. Maslan, "Main ne aik kutta dekha. The dog bhaunk raha tha."
Doosra, hum The ka istemal un cheezon ke liye karte hain jo unique hain, jaise The sun ya The moon, kyun ke duniya mein aik hi suraj aur chand hai.
Teesra, hum The ko superlatives ke sath lagate hain jaise The best, The tallest, ya The fastest. Yeh lafz dikhate hain ke koi cheez apne group mein sabse zyada hai.
Chautha, The dariyaon( Rivers), samundaron aur paharon ke naamon se pehle lagta hai, jaise The Nile ya The Himalayas.
Aakhri, hum The ko specific jagahon ya groups ke liye istemal karte hain, jaise The library ya The police.
Aaj ham nay kiya seekha:

g for the first time or something general, while The is used for something specific or known.
